TeamSTEPPS

July 18, 2012

This pre conference provides an overview of the standardized federal program for healthcare team training, Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS™), which optimizes team performance, resolving the communication breakdowns that are major contributors to sentinel events.

The evidence-based TeamSTEPPS™ system advances quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care by improving communications and other teamwork skills among healthcare professionals. As part of the National Implementation of TeamSTEPPS, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) have partnered to build a national support network to move this effective system into healthcare agencies and professional education.

Local TeamSTEPPS Master Trainers lead this interactive workshop and move beyond the essentials of teamwork to enable participants to develop actionable plans for integrating teamwork into practice in their own organization.

Audience: Health Professionals and Educators who wish to improve patient safety through interprofessional teamwork.

Summer Institute on Evidence-Based Practice | Accepting Abstracts

2012 Theme: IQ for QI: Evidence, Action, Outcomes

July 19-21, 2012 San Antonio, Texas

In its 11th year, this Institute builds capacity for healthcare providers to actively shape the future of quality and safety in healthcare through translating evidence into practice. Join frontline leaders, midlevel managers, top directors, educators, and scientists to share information on informing improvement with evidence, employing improvement strategies, and leading improvement at every level. Because frontline and evidence are powerful drivers in building quality and safety, we look at 'what it takes' to move healthcare to a high level of quality and safety. In each discussion, effective strategies are underscored with evidence. Take home expert advice on cutting edge approaches that leverage evidence, organizational climate, and clinician vitality. This all-new conference explores best approaches to accelerate change and adoption by increasing your “IQ for QI”, with actionable information.

Audience: Clinicians, nurses, physicians, advanced practice nurses, pharmacists, librarians, all health professionals who wish to use evidence in practice, researchers who develop healthcare science in various disciplines, educators who prepare health professionals including nurses, physicians, pharmacists, dentists, and allied health clinicians for implementing quality care, and administrators and managers who shape healthcare services through improvement innovation.
